JOHOR BARU: Cuepacs will appeal to the Government to pay bonuses to 1.2 million public sector workers in the 2010 Budget, as a goodwill gesture to honour their services.
Its president Omar Osman said Cuepacs held discussions with the Public Works Department last week on the matter.
“We will make a formal appeal to the Government next week.
“It is the hope of all public sector workers to receive their bonuses, especially given the expenditure during the coming festive seasons,” he told reporters after attending the annual general meeting of Johor Baru City Council workers yesterday.
Omar said while Cuepacs understood the Government’s constrains due to the current economic downturn, he hoped the leadership would consider the appeal. - Source The Star
