KLANG, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- A tourist guide was charged in two Sessions Courts here Monday with 26 counts of human trafficking of Chinese nationals last week.
Chin Fung Chu, 47, from Penampang, Sabah, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to all the charges which were alleged to have been committed at the open car park, AMC Building, at the KL International Airport on Aug 4.
He is charged with trafficking in 26 Chinese nationals, aged between 15 and 46 years. They comprised 17 men and nine women, with six of them juveniles.
The first 13 charges were before judge Datuk Anita Harun, who allowed Chin bail of RM5,000 in two sureties, and the remainder, before judge Yong Zarida Sazali, who set bail at RM5,000 in one surety.
Both judges also ordered Chin to surrender his passport to the court and set Sept 15 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Siti Syuhada Alwi and Siti Noorbaya Jamil prosecuted while Chin was represented by lawyer J. Ganesan.

Three Detained For Human Trafficking, Two Still At Large
KOTA BAHARU, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Three locals who smuggled in 12 Myanmar nationals, including three children, aimed at turning them into beggars in Kuala Lumpur, were detained by the Kelantan Immigration.
Kelantan Immigration Deputy Director Norazilawati Mustapha said the three, including two brothers and a woman, aged between 17 and 25 were detained at about 7pm for smuggling and locking up 12 Myanmar nationals in a house at Kampung Kubang Panjang, Pasir Mas, yesterday.
"We are looking for two more suspects, believed to be the parents of the two brothers, to assist investigations," Norazilawati told reporters here on Monday.
According to Norazilawati, all the Myanmar nationals whose ages were between two and 39, comprised of seven men, two women and three children (all girls), were given temporary shelter.
She said all the suspects are believed to be members of a family who have been involved in human trafficking for the past two years.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspects would take the Myanmar nationals to Kuala Lumpur and turn them to beggars on the streets.

Marine Force Nabs 21 Illegals At Tanjung Pengelih
JOHOR BAHARU, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The police marine operations force detained 21 Indonesian illegal immigrants in the sea off Pengerang near Kota Tinggi yesterday morning.
In a blitz dubbed 'Operation Octopus', a team of policemen also seized a flatboat fitted with an outboard engine, from the suspects aged between 19 and 53.
Naval Region 2 commander ACP Mohd Khamsani Abd Rahman said in a statement today that the policemen spotted the flatboat at 12.15am.
In a 20-minute chase that ensued, the police detained the illegals, he said.

PGM Wilayah Dua tahan 21 pendatang asing
JOHOR BAHARU: Pasukan Gerakan Marin (PGM) Wilayah Dua menahan 21 pendatang asing tanpa izin di perairan Pengerang, dekat Kota Tinggi, tengah malam tadi.
Komander Markas PGM Wilayah Dua, ACP Mohd Khamsani Abd Rahman, berkata pihaknya berjaya menahan kesemua rakyat Indonesia itu selepas mengesan sebuah bot pancung mencurigakan di kedudukan 0.3 batu nautika dari pantai Tanjung Pengelih, kira-kira jam 12.15 tengah malam.
Operasi Octopus, yang dilakukan seorang pegawai dan lapan anggota PGM, berjaya menahan bot pancung itu selepas mengejarnya selama 20 minit," katanya dalam satu kenyataan, hari ini.
Katanya, semua mereka yang ditahan berumur di antara 19 dan 53 tahun kini disiasat mengikut Akta Imigresen 1953/1967. Turut dirampas ialah bot pancung dan enjin sangkut bot itu. - Berita Harian.

Prove Claims That Sabah Is Human Trafficking Transit Point
TAWAU, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim urged all parties, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), to prove their claims that Sabah was an entry point for human trafficking activities.
He said those who made unsubstantiated claims would only jeopardise police investigations into the activities.
"So far there is little information about the issue," he told Bernama here, today.
He was commenting on claims by a Tenaganita coordinator, Aegile Fernandez, in Kota Kinabalu recently that Sabah was the main entry point for the trafficking of children, labour and sex workers.
"She made the same allegation before and I have sent her a letter asking her to cooperate with us if she has any information. Until today she has not replied to the letter.
"Do not make baseless allegations as these will cast negative perception on us, as if the police are not doing their work," he said.
